  • Notice of Museum Exhibition in Tochigi, Japan

    The exhibition “The Tale of Genji and Miyabi” will be held at the Yoshizawa Memorial Museum of Art in Sano (Tochigi Prefecture). The exhibition will feature paintings and crafts that showcase the “miyabi” of the imperial court culture, including Tale of Genji and other literature of the imperial court and bugaku. The exhibition will feature seven works by Akane Yamamoto from the museum's collection, including works from the new collection, and we hope you will take this opportunity to view them.

    The following 7 works by Akane Yamamoto will be on exhibit.

    ・“Wakamurasaki ”, Chapter 5 of The Tale of Genji ←New collection
    ・“Fujinouraba ”, Chapter 33 of The Tale of Genji
    ・“Minori (The Law)”, Chapter 40 of The Tale of Genji
    ・“Futari-Shizuka”
    ・ Kirikane Glass Incense container “Happy Plum Blossom”
    ・Wooden Box for Tanzaku “The Melody of the Sho

  • Notice of VOD Distribution

    The TV program “Core Kyoto – The Tale of Genji: Elegance That Transcends the Ages” (28 min. program)broadcast on NHK WORLD-JAPAN on May 9 is available for free VOD distribution until March 31, 2027. Akane Yamamoto appears in the introduction and the last 6 minutes of the program. She talks about her thoughts on The Tale of Genji and the creation of her work. We hope you will watch it.

  • Notice of web page publication

    Akane Yamamoto's page on the PREMIST SALON for Japanese Culture is now available to the public. (Interviewed in January 2023)

    She was interviewed very carefully, and in "PART 1" and "PART 2," she talks about the secret story behind the birth of KIRIKANE glass and her thoughts on "The Tale of Genji".
    The "PHOTO GALLERY" at the bottom of the page is full of photos of "KIRIKANE Glass Vessel  'Snowing '" and "Leaf Boat (Autumn)" in production, and the process of  burning gold leaves together.

  • Notice of Video Release

    A video created by the British Museum is now available on YouTube.
    It includes scenes of Akane Yamamoto’s work and interviews filmed at her studio in March 2023, as well as a detailed explanation of the “Leaf Boat” in the collection by a curator of the British Museum.
